Want to know the secrets of how to get the best out of your graphic designer? Well, look no further! I’ve created this FREE 24-page guide to creating wonderful briefs for graphic designers. 24 pages seems a lot, right? Well… yes. But it’s designed for you to dip in and out of, and is organised into clever little sections. Firstly, there’s a list of stuff you need to put on your brief. Then there are little chapters about the stuff on that list – for example, how to define your target audience, or what to do to make sure your budget is realistic. There are handy quick tips to follow to make sure you’re on the right track.
Saving money
Throughout the guide there are all sorts of valuable inside secrets which, when implemented, will ensure you spend your budget wisely. However, I’ve also included a brilliant five-page section called Branding on a Budget. In an ideal world, all small businesses would have lashings of cash to throw at us designers in order to ensure that their brand image is nothing-short of wondrous. In the real world, I’ve worked with enough small businesses to know that they are generally birthed with more enthusiasm than money, so in this section there are plenty of tips for making sure you have an acceptable identity on a shoestring. There are questions to ask your designer to make sure you get the most out of your logo, ways of slashing the cost of printed stationery and the best way to get cheap business cards.
informative and witty… a must have” – Illustrators Wales
Legal stuff (sort of)
Communication about what is expected from whom and when is important when agreeing to work with a designer. Here I present a list of things to ask about before you get sorted, just so everyone knows where they are.
I, like most, learnt from making the mistakes – this can help others before they do” – Paul Gardner, Sales and Marketing Director
I hate it!
Getting useful feedback out of some clients (many designers will tell you) is a bit like getting blood out of the proverbial stone. Here is one very simple rule to follow when providing feedback to designers which, if followed, will help make everyone’s lives easier.
Why?
…did I spend days of my life writing, editing and designing this little critter? Well, I’ve been working in this industry for ten years and have met more clients who don’t know what to do with us designers than do. I have friends who are also designers and they say the same thing. So I thought I’d write a little guide of all the things that are useful to know, to make working together as creative and fun as it should be.
Also, other free magic!
